Pack Your Clothes

How to Pack Your Clothes

Everyone who has moved or helped their friends or colleagues at least once in their life knows that moving is not easy. And the fact that there are special companies that offer moving services, more and more consumers are learning every day. But since not everyone has the opportunity or desire to seek the help of professionals, we are happy to reveal some secrets that we hope will come in handy and greatly facilitate your move.

How to pack for a move?

You will need different packages to carry the items intact.

Basic set:

  • boxes of different sizes;
  • scotch tape;
  • scissors;
  • air-bubble wrap.

Corrugated cardboard, stretch film, and foam blocks are perfect for packing furniture and large appliances.

For small things and fragile things – plastic bags, foamed polyethylene, and craft paper. Vacuum bags are suitable for clothes and textiles. And don’t forget the marker to sign the boxes.

Everything on this list can be bought online or on the websites of carriers. It is difficult to calculate the number of boxes without experience, so take on a margin.

1. Use regular boxes

Before you start packing, you should prepare the packing material. It can be purchased or rented (in the case of boxes). You can also use items you already have such as shoe packing or large post boxes, but still, it is better to use a special material as a guarantee of undamaged cargo.

As a package, you can also buy large sturdy bags, which you can find in any hardware store. Don’t forget the packing film, scotch tape, and rope. When carrying heavy bulky items, you can even use a car cable, winding it on your hands.

2. Sort out the clothes

Once the packaging material is ready, things need to be sorted. In the process of sorting, you will finally have a unique and unique opportunity to get rid of everything superfluous, broken, and unnecessary. By the way, when moving, there are two ways to get rid of unnecessary things – during packaging and unpacking.

3. Use suitcases

Clothes are best transported in large bags. If you plan to unpack immediately after moving – you can pack them as you wish. If the bags are still unpacked for some time, you should first pack clothes that you do not wear. That is, when moving in the summer, we pack winter things first, and vice versa, when moving in the winter – summer things will be at the bottom of bags and boxes. Things that you wear more often and underwear are better to carry in a separate bag.

By the way, we pack shoes, bedding, blankets, linens, towels on the same principle. We use – up, do not use – down. Don’t forget to label bags and boxes, this will allow you to find them quicker in the new house.

Final thoughts

You should take care not only of the cargo but also of yourself and your assistants. Keep glasses and water with you, because, as a rule, thirst bothers you during exercise. And one more piece of advice – do not quarrel. Moving is a really difficult thing, but if you do it in a good mood, it can turn into a kind of game.
