I am officially an intern at google! This is my dream internship! I did a previous post about how google emailed me and wanted to interview me for their Global Advertising Operations Team (http://www.aliciatglenn.com/2012/01/11/good-news-bad-news/) . Well that email was sent by accident; they didn’t mean to send me that email about that position, however, they did reach out to me again about potentially interning for the Small and Medium Business Services team. I went through 3 rounds of interviews.
Here is a video I did on March 15th 2012, before my final round interview with google.
So obviously I nailed the interview I got to meet some other potential interns and did a team challenge, and then I had a one-on-one interview with a googler. The onsite interview was mainly to test me for “googliness”.
I was placed in Ann Arbor Michigan, which is a nice quaint town. At first I wanted to be in the Mountain View Office at the “Googleplex” but it worked out better that I was placed in Michigan, because it’s a lot cheaper. I’m planning on going abroad in the fall, so I’m trying to save as much money as possible.
Prior to starting the internship, we had orientation in New York City, so after arriving in Michigan for a day and getting myself settled, I traveled with the interns the next day to NYC. Google put us up at the Gansevoort Hotel in the meat packing district (fancy!).
We also got goodies! A new Macbook to use for the summer, Noogler hat (new googler),and backpack!
The orientation was for all the east coast BOLDer’s ( BOLD is the name of the internship program, google’s only non-technical internship). While in NYC we learned a lot about google’s polices and work environment, and did a bunch of fun ice-breakers; like put together this puzzle of googlers and match them with their description.

And here is my new home for the next 11 weeks, the google office in Ann Arbor, Michigan!
I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to intern at google. I plan on doing my best and kicking butt so I can get an offer to work there after graduation. It’s time for me to put in work! But before that…I need to redeem my massage credits! Lol
